A year in
Dear friends,
So much has changed in a year. I wanted to share some reflections about the open house that captures what a year it has been.
Safety and Trust: Through making space for different personalities, through sharing meals and celebrations, through group outings and getaways, and through weekly, one-on-one meetings with me, we’ve grown to know and care for each other. The guys felt more comfortable with their third open house experience, taking ownership in sharing about their lives and the place they call home.
Clarity of focus: We grew in understanding of the work that we are here to do, Orchard to help the guys with school or work, and the guys in their callings and preparations for adulthood. At the open house, the guys shared about their priorities, their focus, and their plans for their schooling or moving into permanent housing. I’m so proud of them, and I hope you were impressed and encouraged.
Growing network of support: We were so grateful to meet new friends. Each person gives us an opportunity to reflect on and give thanks for the unique, God-given opportunity at Orchard to find stability and focus. Your interest in our lives has been encouraging and motivating.
Generous giving: This continues to fill me with gratitude. Between your giving and a generous matching campaign, we raised $22,000 towards empowering young men with lasting life skills into adulthood. May Jesus bless you for your generosity and love.
Check out this short video of the open house and the photo gallery of the wonderful afternoon.
You can also continue to support us by following our story, finding out how you can help, letting people know about us, and giving financially.
God bless you,
Mike Liaw
