A place of rest
Dear Friends,
Thank you for making our 4th open house fundraiser a success! Here are some highlights and pictures:
You met Ernie, our new resident, and shared in our excitement for his season with us.
Simeon and Matthew, it goes without saying, did great catching up with you and shared their current and future plans.
We met our $7500 matching campaign, which was made up of (5) generous pledges from new and existing donors.
We met some neighbors who were excited about our work. Praise God for growing favor in our neighborhood!
Ericka and Mona, our Whittier Area Community Church partners, helped as our delightful greeters.
As I reflect on Ernie’s arrival, Matthew 11:28-30 has been on my mind and prayers:
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
What a promise that we can find rest in Jesus. Our prayer is that each young men attend faithfully and skillfully to the gift of their lives from a place of rest and safety. There is rest in having your own bed and room. There is rest in having someone share the burden of griefs and worries. There is rest in a shared meal and laughter. There is rest attending to one’s journey one step at a time, together with friends and mentors.
Thank you for making this possible at Orchard through your giving and prayers.
God bless you,
Mike Liaw
